The city, from mummies to lanterns
We begin at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation in Fustat, where the Royal Mummies Hall holds twenty-two kings and queens in a room designed to be quiet. Lunch nearby, then up to the Citadel of Salah al-Din for the Mosque of Muhammad Ali and the view across to the pyramids on a clear day. We end in Khan el-Khalili with time for tea at El Fishawy and a walk through the lanes as the lanterns come on.
